blog 11 movie project 11/12/2010

the blog is about my favorite project that i have ever done for a class.  This project is about my beliefs in life. which are: i believe that decisions or choices you make, make you who you are; i believe that people are basically good and just appear evil; i believe that if you want something bad enough, no one can tell you otherwise; i believe that people should take responsibility for their actions' i believe in that if you do something good there will be a reward for you and vice versa (karma).  all of them are connected in a moral way.  the way i describe these beliefs is i movie with movie references. like for the first one i use the god father, scarface, and john dillenger.  i still need to mess with the timing to make it longer and add more pictures to drive in the point.  I am trying to use classic movies that everyone has seen and its becoming a real challenge but its a lot of fun!

that is a quote from a very famous historical figure and it also a very famous line from one of my favorite movies.  V for Vendetta.
 today i am going to talk movies.  over the past 24 hours i have watched 3 different movies.  all of them different but all so similar.  two of them were academy  award winners for best picture for 1993 and 1986.  can u guess??  the two movies are Platoon and Shindler's List.  Now on my list for my favorite movies of all time.  Platoon centers around a military platoon who's leader has made a bad decision and and set the platoon in to a civil war with its self.  its based in the vietnam war during the 1960's and it has an all star cast ranging from best supporting actor to best lead actor.  The plot of the movie is about the directors, oliver stone, experiences in vietnam which gives the film a sort of realism.  if you have not seen them i highly recommend them!!

oct/29/2010 i believe

i believe that all people should scuba dive. 

I will never forget the first time I took my first breath underwater. It was surreal.  My whole family is scuba certified and my father insisted on me getting my license.  My family has scuba dove all over the western hemisphere.   We have been to Mexico, Hawaii, Shelbyville, and the best of all Florida. For my first dive we went to Florida and dove on 4 different reefs. I’ve see all kind of animal life; sharks, squid, and a 8-foot sting ray.  You have a new sense of your environment, lush colors and the beautiful coral life. When your underwater all you hears is your regulator and basically nothing else.  Once you experience scuba dive for the first time you almost immediately become a environmental activist because you see it and the dive master talk about how some reefs are “bleaching” which means that the coral is dying and turning white.  So please go out and scuba dive to preserve our ocean!!!! 

blog 8 oct/22/2010 what i did this weekend again

I had a awesome fall break.  Well friday was my birthday and i spent most of the day running around shopping in my hometown, by my self (my mom was working).  then later that day my mom and I went to a heartland film festival movie called ways to live forever.  It was a very sad movie, it was about a young boy and his friend who where dying of leukemia.  My mom was crying the whole time.  Then on saturaday morning i woke up about 10 am and went disc golfing.  After that I went to my friends open house; he left for the army on monday.  Then soon after i left to see my grandparents house. stayed the night there and left to come back to muncie on sunday afternoon in time for my disc golf club meeting that i was having and no one came :(

What I plan to do this weekend.

When I get home I plan to go to the heartland film festival in Castleton.  I am seeing a movie about a Jewish baseball team with a drunken ex-professional baseball player as a coach. After that I plan on seeing RED with my brother and his girlfriend Karen.  After that probably watch a episode or two of my new favorite TV show, Terriers.   Saturday I am going to the Purdue football game with my brother, sister, and brother-in-law and his family.  I have not been to a Purdue football game in a long time.  Ive seen Drew Brees, Kyle Orton, and Curtis Painter all play at purdue when I was a kid. Sunday I plan to disc golf and come back to Muncie and chill out with my friends in my hall.  This sounds like a pretty good weekend. I cant wait.

What I did today

I have had a really lazy day today.  I woke up and went to my history and learned that our second exam is on Monday. Then after class I went over to one of my friend’s dorm and watched the first half of kill bill volume 1.  After that I went to my second and final class of the day telecommunications 101.  After that class I went back to my dorm and quickly finished a paper, pack my bag with some movie and my laptop and headed back to my friends dorm where we watched Michael Clayton.  That is my all time favorite movie.   Then I had to leave for a study session for history where I got some good info about the test.  I had a very strong desire for some Starbucks, so I walked to the student center and got a vanilla bean frapachino, it tasted like ice cream.   I walked back to my dorm via cow path and watched the first few innings of the Phillies game.  Then I got a call that we were going to go to taco bell for dinner.  So I had to walk back to the student center where I ate and watched the rest of the Phillies game.    GO PHILLIES

What I heard

Empty room (no music or noise)

I hear all the computer mechanics humming simultaneously. I hear the lights humming and the wheels on our chairs squeaking as they roll us across the room. 

With music

In the music I hear all kinds of different musical instruments playing together to create one “sound”

The music tastes like a sour apple, which is really good to begin with, and then all of a sudden they turn sour in the middle of your bite (crescendo)

The way the music felt in my hands is when I first put my hand in the sand, like at a beach. Its warm and course, then u start to sink in to the sand, it fills in around you when gravity starts its pull and wraps you like a cocoon and its really relaxing. 

this past 2 weeks friday sept/24/2010

These past 2 weeks of college have been pretty tough.  Its been a first round of testing for me and it turned out that I passed the first 2 tests of my college career with a B and a C.  Other than the tests I have major homework.  Every Tuesday and Thursday I have a lot of math problems.  I had to write 2 papers that I obviously procrasted.  For English I had to write a paper about a song, I chose to write about one of my new favorite artists, frank turner.  If you have not heard of him, Youtube it he is an awesome performer.  Also my ID 101 classed ended this week and now on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I only have 3 classes instead of 4.  I also had to write a paper for that class too and I did not start it until the day it was due.  I felt really lazy that day.  I cant wait for this Friday I am going to play in my first ping-pong tournament.

I am so sorry for setting your mailbox on fire.  I know that your cat shaped mailbox was very important to you because it represented who you are, a old cat lady. I’m sure that you custom shaped mailbox was very expensive and I can assure you that I am not going to pay for any of it. Frankly I thought you mailbox was hideous and i was tired of looking at it. So one day I woke up and decided that this is the i am going to change things.  I decided to give your mailbox a fresh coat of paint, i prefer to use the extra flammable kind to insure to give a rich earthly tone.  After I got done painting i decided to step back and gaze upon my masterpiece and have a smoke. I accidentally dropped my cigarette right at the base of the mailbox.  Never in my day I’ve seen something burst into flames that quickly.  In reality your burnt mailbox is not my fault.

Blog 2 sept/10/2010 writing narrative

My literacy narrative is going well so far.  The ideas are flowing.  I am very selective about who reads my writing because I fear about the feedback I would get it being positive or negative.  I always try to put humor in my writing because i feel it makes the reader more interested in reading the rest of the story. So when I got the feedback that it was funny it was a real sense of accomplishment and relief.  Also i got the feedback that it needs to be longer and more in depth,  so while I am writing the rest of my story i will be sure to try and make it even more humorous.  They also told me that i should put more stuff about my dad and I’s relationship and how this scrip (in the writing) helped grow our bond of father and son.   Right now i am happy with the way my story ends but I will still try to use the conclusion endings in other of my works of writing for english 101.

Blog 1 sept/3/2010....What I Did This Evening

To start off the evening I played ping pong with a friend for about two hours.  I am a beast at ping pong so obviously I won pretty easily every game by a pretty substantial margin.  Soon after that I bought a Mountain Dew from the vending machine and quickly chugged it.  That was a bad idea because i started to feel sick right after.  Ball States football season started today and me being sick kept me away from the game and I heard that we won.  So I started to walk down the hall and my friend tyler was in his room and right as a walked passed his door way, I get hit in the face with a Ding dong (chocolate covered pastry) and what my plans were for that night.  I told him that I was not feeling well and I was headed back to my dorm. So when I got back to my dorm I go and turn on my Xbox and tyler is also playing.  we played a game or two together and then we decided to play cards and ping pong down stairs in the lobby and watch the parade of drunk people coming from the football game.  It was a pretty fun night.
